We love little children at City of Refuge – just as Jesus did, and still does! So, under the leadership of Rachel Walmer we have designed ministries perfectly suited for infants, toddlers and primary-school students, whether members or visitors.
Nursery
Children’s Sunday School
The littlest among us – our infants, crawlers/creepers, toddlers, and pre-K/3s and 4s – are showered with attention. They are loved on and cared for in age-appropriate rooms with well-defined guidelines regarding cleanliness and safety. Children in the Toddler and PreK rooms are given age-appropriate instruction each week. They are working through a curriculum called, "Show Me Jesus." This is an amazing curriculum, focusing on the following spiritual goals: To know Jesus died to save us; to know that God loves us and forgives us; to know that we are part of God's covenant family; to respond to his love with our hearts and trust and obey him.
We offer three classes on Sunday mornings:
-Kindergarten – 1st grade
-2nd – 3rd grade
-4th & 5th grade
Students are studying a curriculum called “Heart Shapers.” Kids are engaged in Bible stories and Bible study through multisensory learning, Bible skill-building activities, and focused life application. Students attend Sunday School at 9:15 each week, then attend church with their parents on the first, second, and fourth Sundays. On the third Sunday of each month, children worship together in our Jump service, led by our youth. Jump is a worship service designed for our children by our youth and the young adults who assist them. The service includes singing, creative movement, a lesson, drama, games, and a craft. It is a highlight of our ministry each month.
Children of all ages connect, learn, play and experience their new lives with other children from our church family, from our church neighborhood, and with visitors from our city and world.
