Partners-at-Large (PALs) are men and women who are former members of COR or other nonmembers who share a conviction regarding our concept, vision, and implementation of the historic holistic gospel. This vision includes being spiritually reconciled to God, historically biblical, socially conscious, racially/economically diverse, and Christ exalting in worship.
PALs include:
- Frequent visitors who are members of other local churches but do not or cannot officially join COR for various reasons. However, they support our mission “to be a family of suburban and urban believers with a passion to glorify God and to make disciples of Jesus Christ from all ethnicities” with their time, talent, and treasure.
- Frequent visitors who are not members of any local congregation due to a bad religious experience or who take exception to the necessity of joining a local church at this juncture of their spiritual journey.
- Former members of City of Refuge (COR) who have relocated to another state or country.
- Former COR members in Houston who have amicably transferred to another church but who wish to remain connected to the life of COR.
COR reaches out to serve PALs in a variety of ways:
- Consistently praying for them and their family
- Continuing to provide surrogate pastoral ministry from afar until they have found a local Bible-believing congregation where Jesus Christ is exalted and the Word of God is explained
- Communicating with and updating them via a bi-monthly newsletter
- Committing to share our advice and encouragement regarding planting or growing an interracial congregation either in person or by telecommunications
